Re: Install Canon Pixma IP2700 printer
Plug your printer in the USB port, and then turn it on, make sure it is available by checking again with lsusb.
Go to Canon http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0038679.asp
Download the file to your computer, e.g. to your home directory. Unpack the archive by right-clicking and selecting “unpack here”.
A folder is created with several subarchives, select the one which name finishes in “-deb” and extract it again to your home directory (not in the directory which the original archive created. Using the terminal, switch to this directory:

cd cnijfilter-ip2700series-3.30-1-i386-deb
and then type

sudo ./install.sh
The terminal will output several lines before prompting you to plug your printer in. If you did it already (as said above), simply hit enter. Then follow the instructions. You printer will be setup in 1 min.
Note that I tried to print a gimp file 1 min ago, the printer made several noises for at least 40sec until it managed to find the single paper sheet I fed it. But it worked =D
